Pick The Right Fan For Any Season

It's ridiculously hot in the UK at the moment, on certain days last month we were hotter than the Caribbean, Italy and several other parts of Europe. Everybody around the country is running their fans and air conditioners constantly, trying to keep us cool (speaking of keeping cool with fans, try the Hunter fan, they're awesome).

Within a couple of months however, the sun will have gone and the temperatures will have dropped dramatically. Then out will come the portable heaters, oil radiators, umbrellas, coats and wooly jumpers, plus we'll all be messing around trying to jam the several fans around the house back under the stairs.

Given the financial climate we're currently in, surely it would be more sensible to use technology that was suitable for both winter and summer? Something that we could leave out all year round that will keep us cool in the summer and warm in the winter, without us having to fork out considerable sums on a full home air conditioning system.

Luckily, such items do exist, and by investing in them instead of having to buy separate gadgets for each season, you should save a few quid.

Buy yourself a fan heater, rather than buying a fan and heater seperately. Fan heaters will let you switch quickly and easily between cool air and warm air, allowing you to keep it out and being used regardless of the season. Weirdly, fan heaters can often be found quite cheaply too - go down to your local hardware store and you'll probably find one cheaper than the equivalent high-quality desk fan, meaning you'll not only save in the short term but won't have to buy a heater when the winter comes round.

Air purifiers are another useful gadget that can be utilised during either summer or winter, and although it won't affect the air's temperature, it will affect its quality. If you find yourself getting constantly ill during the winter and suffer from dry throats in the summer, an air purifier could make you feel better in both instances. A HEPA air purifier would be an excellent recommendation, as they have been market leaders in the field for the last few years.
